Allen, Lowe pick up NEC weekly honors

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Bryant University baseball junior Logan Allen and graduate student Collin Lowe were recognized as the Northeast Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday.

The duo helped the Bulldogs sweep No. 12 East Carolina to open the 2022 season. Bryant won game one 10-2 and finished the sweep with 5-4 and 4-3 victories on Saturday and Sunday.

Allen, who missed the 2021 season with an injury, served as the catalyst in Bryant's eye-opening sweep of No. 12 East Carolina that vaulted the Bulldogs into the national rankings. Allen, who spent his first two seasons at Bridgeport, posted two hits in each of the three wins over the 2021 NCAA Super Regional participants, batting .500 with three RBIs, four runs scored, two walks and a pair of stolen bases. The Magnolia, TX native had a two-run single in Bryant's 10-2 win in the series opener and singles in a run to put Bryant on the board in the final, a 4-3 Bulldog victory.

Lowe, a graduate transfer from Richmond, tossed 5.0 scoreless innings to earn the win in Bryant's 10-2 victory in Friday's season opener. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three.

In addition, Jared Burrows was named an #NECPrimePerformer. Burrows allowed one run and struck out five over 5.0 innings on Saturday.
