Woods, Lane and Lowe named All-New England

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Three members of the Bryant University baseball team were named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New England First Team, the organization announced.

Outfielder Matt Woods, designated hitter Alex Lane and starting pitcher Collin Lowe all were named to the first team after helping the Black and Gold to 30 wins and an appearance in the Northeast Conference Championship round.

Woods enjoyed a historic season for the Bulldogs, earning NEC Player of the Year honors after hitting .384 with 84 hits, 17 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs, 45 RBI and 43 runs scored. His 84 hits, seven triples and 139 total bases all rank in the top five in a single season in DI program history. Woods also stole nine bases and didn't commit an error in 115 chances in center.

Lane had a big breakthrough in power for the Black and Gold this year, hitting .290 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 48 RBI. His 12 home runs are tied for the second-most in a single season in DI program history.

Lowe stepped into Bryant's Friday-night role and thrived this spring. He finished 5-4 with a 2.79 ERA in 14 starts. He struck out 79 and walked just 16 in 80.2 innings of work. Lowe worked at least 7.0 innings four times and allowed two runs or less in eight of his 14 starts.
