Bryant rallies past Davidson in extras, 6-5

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Bryant University baseball team rallied from 4-1 down in the seventh inning to earn a 6-5 victory in 11 innings over Davidson on Friday afternoon at Wilson Field.

With the win, the Bulldogs have now won back-to-back games and are 3-7 on the year. The victory also marked Bryant's first in six tries against the Wildcats.

Bryant's late rally was highlighted by a two-run game-tying home run from former Davidson Wildcat John Hosmer, strong at-bats and lights out relief pitching from M.T. Morrissey, Matthew Stansky and Austin Wainer.

Hosmer tied the game at 4-4 with a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the eighth. Bryant then took a 5-4 lead to the bottom of the ninth but a Davidson home run sent the game to extras. Wainer then made an 11th-inning RBI ground out from Derek Smith stand up as he struck out five in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.
