Bryant hosts NJIT to open America East play

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team opens America East play this weekend when it welcomes NJIT to Conaty Park. 

**Inclement weather on Saturday has forced a change in the weekend schedule. Bryant and NJIT will now play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 12:00 p.m. The series will conclude Sunday at 1:00 p.m.**

  • Jeter will get the ball on Friday for the third-straight weekend. He tossed 7.0 shutout innings at Brown last Friday, his best start in nearly two years. 
  • Jeter has walked just five and struck out 17 in 19.2 innings so far this spring. 
  • Turner will look to keep his solid stretch going on Saturday. The righty has worked into the fifth inning in each of his last three starts, allowing six runs in 14.1 innings. 
  • Turner has allowed one run or less in three of his five starts this season. 
  • Bryant's Sunday starter is still TBD.
  • NJIT's weekend rotation is headlined by 2022 America East Pitcher of the Year Ryan Fischer. He went 7-3 and struck out 90 batters in 95.1 innings. 
  • Aidan Kidd has a pair of games in which he's struck out nine this year, while Georgini has worked at least 5.0 innings and allowed three runs or less in all five starts.

  • Bryant and NJIT will be meeting for the first time in program history. 

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant evened its overall record at 8-8 with a 5-1 victory over Brown on Wednesday. The Bulldogs won three of four against the Bears over the last six days. 
  • The Bulldogs enter the first weekend of America East play ranked fourth in the league in batting average and second in ERA. Bryant's pitching staff leads the league in strikeouts.
  • Jake Gustin enters the weekend riding a 24-game on-base streak that goes back to last season. He's hitting .308 with a .408 OBP.
  • Cade Dulin is putting together a solid rookie campaign through 16 games, hitting .260 with nine RBI and a .393 OBP. He hit his first-career home run on Wednesday at Brown.
  • Lewis Barnum is also shining, hitting .391 in 23 at-bats. He has 10 RBI and a .462 OBP.
  • Outside of the starting rotation, Brett Wichrowski is enjoying a strong year out of the bullpen, posting a 2.70 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 13.1 innings.
