Frasier's gem leads Bryant past Merrimack, 8-3

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Logan Frasier allowed just one hit over 5.0 shutout innings to lead the Bryant University baseball team to an 8-3 victory over Merrimack on Wednesday afternoon at Conaty Park.

With the win, the Bulldogs even their record at 16-16 overall and are now 3-3 in midweek games.

Making his first start since February 26 of this year, Frasier struck out six and allowed just one hit in his longest outing of the season.

Jake Gustin picked up a two-run triple and an RBI double, while Jackson Phinney hit his sixth home run of the season.

  • Gustin's two-run triple in the bottom of the second highlighted a big three-run inning for the Black and Gold.

How it Happened

  • Bryant got on the board first, scoring three times in the second inning. Three walks loaded the bases and Zyons brought home the first run with a sac fly. Gustin then drilled a two-run triple into right center to make it 3-0.
  • The Bulldogs then added single runs in the third and fourth. Lewis Barnum scored on a balk in the third, while Phinney made it 5-0 in the fourth with a home run to dead center in the fourth.
  • Merrimack made it 5-1 in the sixth but Bryant answered with two in the bottom of the inning. A throwing error scored the first run of the inning and an RBI ground out by Lewis Barnum made it 7-1.
  • The Warriors were able to plate a pair of runs in the seventh to make it 7-3.
  • Gustin pushed Bryant's lead to 8-3 with an RBI double into the right field corner.
