Milwaukee Brewers select Brett Wichrowski in 13th round of MLB Draft

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University baseball junior Brett Wichrowski was selected in the 13th round, 392nd overall, of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Wichrowski becomes the 24th Bryant baseball player since 2009, and the 27th overall, to be selected in the MLB Draft. He 12th Bulldog to be chosen as a junior, joining classmate Coleman Picard who was selected in the sixth round. Wichrowski and Picard give Bryant multiple draft picks for the eighth time.  

A native of Williamstown, N.J., Wichrowski developed into one of the most explosive right-handers in New England during his three years at Bryant. He appeared in 32 games, making 15 starts for the Black and Gold. Wichrowski finished his career with a 7-5 overall record and 109 strikeouts in 92.2 innings. After appearing in just five games as a true freshman in 2021, Wichrowski pitched in 27 games over the last two springs, shifiting in Bryant's weekend rotation in each of those seasons. He made eight starts in 2022, striking out 37 in 38.0 innings. Wichrowski took the next step in 2023, striking out 64 and allowing just 49 hits in 50.0 innings. The righty was named to the America East Second Team, allowing three earned runs or less in 11 of his 14 outings. Wichrowski had his best start of the year vs UMBC, striking out a career-high nine over 5.0 scoreless innings.
