Bulldogs Rollout West to Albany, NY for Columbus Day Weekend

ALBANY, NY—Bulldogs traveled this past weekend to Albany, NY to compete in their
first Eastern Collegiate Racquetball Conference match of the year. The Bulldogs were led by
their head coach David Barnes, who competed in the Alumni division this weekend, and senior
captain Alex Beval. The weekend long tournament started with a very slow start by everyone,
which took the Bulldogs out of the gold bracket.

The following matches were extremely positive with Captain Alex Beval making it to the semis
in both the Blue bracket for Men’s Singles, and the Consolation bracket for Men’s Doubles.
Beval’s doubles partner, Returning senior Vladimir Constantinoff also succeeded in Men’s
Singles as well, making it all the way to the semi-finals in the Red bracket. The duo of Nate
Morgan and Thomas Griffin, were a bright spot for the Bulldogs who took over in the Men’s
Doubles Consolation bracket by defeating a pair from Rowan University (15-8, 15-14).

Coach David Barnes was delighted by his team’s performance after the first meet of the year in
the books. Coach Barnes knew going into the meet that the team lost a lot of returning players,
but gained new talent as well as an abundance of young leaders for this upcoming year. In the
Alumni Division, Coach Barnes showed the young pups how it’s done, by going undefeated all
weekend and coming out on top of the Alumni Division.
