Seniors Help Guide Bulldogs to Impressive Showing at ECRC Meet #2

Syracuse, NY- Bryant took a drive up to Syracuse, NY, where they competed in the 2nd Eastern Collegiate Racquetball Conference match of the year. Coach David Barnes was ecstatic by his team’s performance over the weekend by saying his team kept fighting regardless of the first day's results, which led to the Bulldogs winning in multiple brackets.

The team was led by their seniors, captain Alex Belval and Thomas Griffin. Belval, who had an impressive showing in the match winning 5 out of 7 games at Men’s #1 singles. Belval also won the Blue bracket by overcoming a tough 3 set game, 2-1 (15-11, 10-15, 11-8) against Ross Sherrer from Penn St. Senior Thomas Griffin had to try to upset a much higher seed in the gold draw falling just short putting him in the Red bracket. Griffin didn’t let the early round lost effect his play, by reaching the semi-finals of the Red bracket losing in a heartbreaker, 1-2 (15-5, 0-15, 3-11).

Freshman Yuvrai Duggal proved that the Bulldogs are full of young talent, by winning 3 out of 7 games in #2 singles.  Duggal went on to win the White bracket at #2 Men’s singles in demanding fashion, 2-0 (15-1,15-4). Classmate Michael Lavallee showed he can compete at a high level by winning the White bracket at #3 Men’s singles in a back and forth effort ultimately ending in a 2-0 victory (15-11, 15-11).
