New Records at New England Championships for Women's Rowing

WORCESTER, M.A.- The final and biggest race of the rowing season took place in Worcester, M.A. this past weekend on Saturday, May 5th. It was cold in the morning and the wind was strong, making the water choppy and more difficult than usual to row in. Over 36 schools and 1,200 competitors were a part of the New England Rowing Championships. The first part of the race was time trials which were only a 1500m race compared to the standard 2000m. Time trials mean that the boats are racing against the clock, and based on their times they get placed in either the petite final or the grand final, which was the standard 2000m race. Bryant raced three 4’s and did well in all their races. Here are the results:

The 1V4+ managed to make it two boat lengths ahead of how they were expected to perform in the time trials which is a record for the team! The boats have been cleaned and put away for the season and that’s a wrap! They said farewell to their international teammate, Anna Hunt, who will be heading back to England early this summer, as well as final goodbyes to their seniors Liz Weston (President and rower) and Karine Mikitarian (VP and coxswain). It was a great season for the girls overall, they will be back a week before school starts back up in the fall.
