WOMEN’S ROWING WINS FIRST SPRING RACE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Women’s Rowing team faced Merrimack on Saturday, April 6th at their home venue. Many friends and family came out to support and cheer them into their first Spring season race win. In the New England Rowing Championships, Merrimack was one place ahead of Bryant, but this race, Bryant was able to win all three of the races with their 1v4+, 2v4+ and 3v4+.

Final Results:

1v4+

  • Bryant: 7:49.98

  • Merrimack: 7:54.15

2v4+

  • Bryant: 8:37.04

  • Bryant: 8:56.02

  • Merrimack: 9:09.78

Race Info:

  • The weather made it easier for both teams to perform their best as the water was flat and their was almost no wind

  • Bryant’s 2v4+ and 3v4+ collided off of the start, but this didn’t slow them down in the long run

  • It was a close race with the Bryant and Merrimack 1v4+ being only 5 seconds apart

Highlights:

  • Merrimack placed one spot ahead of Bryant in NERC’s last Spring season, but this time, Bulldogs pulled ahead and won all their races
