FIRST FALL REGATTA PAVES THE WAY FOR A GREAT SEASON AHEAD

LOWELL, M.A. -- On Sunday September 30th, the Women’s Rowing team headed to Lowell, M.A. for their first race of the fall season. It was a cool temperature to start, but once the sun came out things started to warm up and become more comfortable for rowers and parents who came out to support. This was not only the first race of the season, but the novice’s very first race of their rowing careers.

 

Results:

  • V4+: 4th place - 17:44

  • 2V4+: 8th place - 18:37

  • Novice 4+: 3rd place - 22:51

Race Info:

  • The day started with a 5:15 a.m. departure time from Bryant

  • The V4+ and 2V4+ race start time was 10:34 a.m. and novice start time was 11:48 a.m.

  • The V4+ was only defeated by UMASS Lowell and Bowden which are division teams, and fell only 15 seconds short of 3rd place

  • The 2V4+ defeated the A-boats from Endicott, UMaine, and Mass Maritime Academy

  • The novice boat, “The Schuster”, lost its skeg somewhere along the course which took away the ability of the coxswain to steer

Highlights:

  • Despite the novice’s boat missing their skeg, they were still able to place 3rd and medal

  • The overall results from this race were spectacular compare to past times

  • Assistant coach Jackson Krupnick: “I thought that our preparation over the summer and early in the fall allowed us to perform much better at the race this year then we have in the last”
