SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Despite the outstanding play of goaltender Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe), the Bryant Field Hockey team lost its opener to perennial powerhouse Bloomsburg 4-0. Mawema stopped 20 shots in the losing cause.
Samantha Kropa had two goals for the Huskies, who scored three second-half goals. Co-captain Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Ashley Rebello (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) each had two shots for the Bulldogs.
Bryant is in action again tomorrow when they welcome Mansfield to the Bryant Turf Complex at 12 p.m.
