Sadler Stays Hot in 3-2 Victory over St. Anselms

Smithfield, R.I. -  The Bryant University Field Hockey team continued  its winning streak Monday night at the Bryant Turf Complex, defeating St. Anselms 3-2.

Co-captain Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) scored her second goal of the game with under three minutes to play, breaking a 2-2 tie to give the Bulldogs the win.

Bryant got started early and often, scoring twice in the game's first 10:15.

Co-captain Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, N.Y.) opened the scoring, taking a pass from Sadler and beating goaltender Riley Haddock. Two minutes later, Sadler made it 2-0, burying a rebound into the net. Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) picked up the assist on Sadler's first tally. Dwyer assisted on Sadler's game-winning goal.

But the Hawks responded in the second half, as Maddie Cantarow and Danielle Comer scored eight minutes apart to tie the game.

After being named the Northeast-10 Field Hockey Player of the Week today, Sadler continued her hot streak, finishing with two goals and an assist. She has a point on all of Bryant's six goals during the three game winning streak.

After winning three straight at home, the Bulldogs (6-5, 5-3 NE-10) will hit the road for three pivotal games, starting with Stonehill Saturday (1 p.m.).
