Carr Scores Twice in 5-3 Loss to #8 Mansfield

EASTON, PA. - Facing their second nationally-ranked Pennsylvania foe in as many days, the Bryant field hockey team dropped its second straight match, 5-3 to eighth-ranked Mansfield College Sunday afternoon.

Senior Caroline Carr (Wrentham, MA) scored her second and third goals of the year in the losing cause.

Carlyn Spangler and Keely Jarrett each scored twice for Mansfield, who scored three goals off penalty corners and once off a penalty stroke.

Sophomore Kelly Frantz (Southberg, CT) evened the score at one in the 20th minute, as she scored her first collegiate goal from ten yards out. Sophomore Danielle Moody (Gorham, ME) posted her first collegiate assist on the goal.

Carr made it 3-2 in the 45th minute, beating Mansfield goaltender Brianna DeLuca with her first goal of the game.

Carr brought the Bulldogs to within one again to 4-3 in the 59th minute, as she scored off a penalty corner. Senior Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA) notched the assist on Carr's second tally.

Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) made 12 saves for the Bulldogs, while DeLuca stopped seven shots.

Bryant (1-2, 1-0 NE-10) will travel to New Haven, CT to take on Southern Connecticut Thursday night (7 p.m.).
