Boxscore

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Jennie Mostellar netted a pair of goals while a trio of other Wildcats scored for Davidson as the Bryant University field hockey team dropped its 2010 season opener, 5-0, in the first game of the Georgetown Invitational.

Christine Rua got the scoring started just 6:34 into the contest, knocking home a rebound off a Davidson (1-0) penalty corner. Finley Amato made it 2-0 with less than two minutes to go in the first half off a feed from Mostellar.

Mostellar and Amato hooked up again 1:11 into the second frame, only this time it was Mostellar who did the scoring. And after Clare Perry made good on a penalty shot mid-half, Mostellar closed out the scoring with a breakaway goal at the 62:04 mark.

Bryant (0-1) junior goalie Jennifer Gullotti (Waltham, Mass.) made four saves in the game, recording a pair in each half, while the Bulldogs were outshot, 15-3, on the day. All three of Bryant's shots – one each from Elise Boissoneau (Ashburnham, Mass.), Courtney Landi (Kingston, N.Y.) and Elise Driscoll (Harwich, Mass.) – came in the second half of Friday's contest.

Sarah Fisher recorded three stops for the Wildcats to get the win.

The Bulldogs will look for their first victory of the 2010 season Saturday in the team's closing contest of the Georgetown Invitational. Bryant will take on the host Hoyas at 11:00 a.m.
