BULLDOGS GET ON BOARD BUT CAN'T GET WIN, FALL TO HARVARD 5-2 MONDAY AFTERNOON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Elise Boissoneau (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Courtney Landi (Kingston, N.Y.) each scored for the Bryant University field hockey team in Monday afternoon's Labor Day road bout against Harvard, but two goals wouldn't be enough to get the win as the Bulldogs fell, 5-2, in Cambridge, Mass.

Chloe Keating would score a hat trick for the Crimson (2-0), getting the scoring started just 2:09 into the contest with a diving one-timer off an Emma Keller cross. Boissoneau would knot the score just over seven minutes later, finding net off a rebound.

The 1-1 tally would hold through the half, but out of the break Harvard would score four straight, bookended by Keating scores, to take a 5-1 advantage into the 63rd minute of action.

But just 27 seconds after Keating's last goal, senior Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, Mass.) sprung Landi, who took the pass in on goalie Cynthia Tassopoulos, scoring her first tally of the season and moving the scoreboard to 5-2. But the Bulldogs (0-4) would run out of time without getting another goal.

Bryant was outshot by the Crimson on the day, 23-10, with three shots from Boissoneau and Katherine Andrusin (North Andover, Mass.) leading the way for the Black and Gold. Carly Dickson led the game with nine shots, recording a goal and an assist for the hosts. Jennifer Gullotti (Waltham, Mass.) made 10 stops between the pipes.

The Bulldogs continue their 11-game season-opening roadtrip Sunday, Sept. 12 when they take on Dartmouth at 3 p.m.
