Field hockey welcomes Prince to coaching staff

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University Athletic Department and head coach Shaunessy Sauicer are pleased to announce the addition of Hannah Prince to the Bryant University field hockey coach staff for the upcoming 2014 fall season.

"I'm very pleased to welcome Hannah Prince to our coaching staff," said Saucier. "She comes in highly recommended with a love for the game, a passion for coaching, and a great work ethic. Hannah will add a wealth of knowledge to our team through her playing experience at UMass, as well as on the USA U-21 National Team."

A former UMass Amherst field hockey standout, Prince spent the last four seasons helping anchor the Minutewomen midfield and defensive backline, helping lead her squad to three NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances (2010, 2012-13) and a run to the Elite 8 as a senior this fall. A four-year starter under coaches Justine Sowry and Carla Tagliente, Prince tallied 37 points in 87 career contests, including a single-season career-high 28 points as a senior en route to NFHCA First Team All-Region, First Team All-Atlantic 10, and ECAC First Team All-Star recognition.

As a member of the US National Program, Prince was one of 18 student-athletes selected from across the country to represent the United States with the 2013 U-21 National Team, the 2013 Junior World Cup, the Women's National Championship (2012-13), and the Junior Women's National Championship (2011, 2013).

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Bryant field hockey coaching staff," said Prince. "I want to thank Director of Athletics Bill Smith and head coach Shaunessy Saucier for this amazing opportunity and for welcoming me into the Bulldog family."

Aside from her outstanding career on the field, Prince has spent the last few years working as a coach with Element Athletics as a U-19 Coach and with USA Field Hockey as a New England Level 1 Futures Assistant Coach.

"Hannah has a lot of passion and is eager to share her knowledge of the game," noted Saucier. "She is a perfect fit to help continue to build our program and both on the field and in the classroom."

A Gorham, Maine native, Prince graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in public health and a minor in Psychology.
