Bulldogs visit La Salle, Sunday at noon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Coming off a tough shootout loss Sunday vs. Quinnipiac, the Bryant University field hockey team will take a brief break from MAAC play when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to take on the La Salle Explorers, Sunday at 12 p.m.

The Black and Gold went 1-1 this past weekend with a 2-1 win over Siena on Friday night before falling to Quinnipiac on Sunday.  Against Siena, sophomore Erin Karcher (Kennett Square, Pa.) and senior Molly Morrison (York, Maine) eacg scored their first goals of the season in the first half, helping Bryant to its first MAAC victory of the 2014 season.

On Sunday, senior Rosie Bird (Hamilton, New Zealand) got in on the action on vs. the Bobcats, scoring both Bryant's goals in in regulation, but Quinnipiac was able to squeak out the shootout victory.

La Salle enters Sunday's action with an 8-6 overall, 4-2 against Atlantic 10 opponents.  The Explorers are led by Kendall Kreider who has 6 goals and 13 points this season.  In goal, Rachel Hartman is having a stellar season starting all 14 games, while only allowing 1.72 goals per contest.  Last season, the Explorers edged past the Bulldogs with a 1-0 victory in Smithfield.
