de Vries adds Hansbury to coaching staff

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University and head field hockey coach Joppe de Vries are excited to welcome Annie Hansbury to Bryant as the Bulldogs' new assistant field hockey coach.

"I am very excited to have Annie joining our team," de Vries said. "She has a lot of experience as a player and coach. Winning a national championship and knowing what it takes to do that is an experience that she can share with the team. We are on a journey and she is going to be a big part of the growth of this program."

Hansbury comes to Bryant after spending the past two seasons as the assistant coach at Central Michigan University. There, Hansbury assisted in running the day to day operations of the program, including game day operation, practice organization, and social media coordination. She also organized and was responsible for scouting and recruiting.

"I truly honored to be a part of the Bryant family," Hansbury said. "I couldn't be more excited to work with this phenomenal group. I want to thank Joppe for this incredible opportunity to join the field hockey staff and to represent Bryant University. I am thrilled to be a Bulldog and member of this community and I can't wait to get started."

Hansbury graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2012 after spending four years on the field hockey team. She led the River Hawks to four NCAA Division II national championship appearances, including winning the national championship in 2010. The now-Bulldog was a two-time NCAA All-American, receiving the award in both 2010 and 2011.

She returned to UML as an assistant coach in 2016 and worked with the team that spring, working with the team in the non-championship spring season.

In 2012, Hansbury was hired as the assistant field hockey coach at Colby College in Maine, where she spent four seasons. In addition to the same duties she held at Lowell, Hansbury also was also responsible for all video coordination.

While at Colby, Hansbury was a volunteer assistant at Bryant during the 2014 preseason, assisting former Bulldog head coach Shaunessy Saucier.

The newly-named Bryant assistant is finishing her MBA in Athletic Administration at Southern New Hampshire University.
