Bryant receives 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Bryant University field hockey team received the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, the NFHCA announced on Tuesday.

This is the fifth-straight year that Bryant has received the award, which is given to institutions with a 3.0 or higher collective GPA over the first term of the academic year. Bryant finished with a 3.39 fall semester average.

"I am extremely proud of my team," Bryant head coach Joppe de Vries said. "Maintaining such a high GPA shows that they are able to combine athletics with being successful in the classroom. We strive to be successful in both areas.

This past semester, 17 Bulldogs earned term-GPAs of 3.0 or higher, highlighted by sophomore Miranda Grundy's (Smithfield, R.I.) 3.82 classroom mark.

The office will announce the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Scholars of Distinction later this week, with the National Academic Squads scheduled to be unveiled on March 26.
