Newbill earns spot in U-21 and Junior National Camp

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University field hockey rising senior Victoria Newbill (Wilton, Maine) has been selected for the USA Field Hockey U-21 and Development Junior National Camp.

This is the second-straight year that Newbill has advanced out of the Young Women's National Championship to earn a spot in this prestigious camp. The selection comes after Newbill shined for Team Courage in three round-robin games last week at Spooky Nook.

"This past week was extremely fun and exciting," Newbill said. "I was on Team Courage and, as a group, we decided we wanted to embody our name by taking risks, facing our fears and being proud of the outcome regardless. I think I was able to accomplish this and I'm ecstatic that it paid off with a selection to the JNC."

Newbill is one of 32 field hockey players from across the country that have been selected to compete in the Development Junior National Camp that will run from June 30 through July 3 at Spooky Nook.

"My mindset hasn't changed, I still want to play my game and stay confident in myself and my abilities," Newbill added. "I have to control my controllables and remember to have fun and enjoy every moment of this!"

Newbill earned First Team All-MAAC honors last fall for the Black and Gold after registering a career-high eight points on two goals and four assists. An accounting major, Newbill is a three-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad as well.
