Rauff earns NEC Rookie of the Week honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – After a dominant week from freshman Taryn Rauff (Johannesburg, South Africa), the Bryant University field hockey midfielder was selected as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Rauff proved to be an offensive threat for the Bulldogs as she netted the game-tying goal at Holy Cross to send the game into double overtime. The goal against the Crusaders marked the first of her career and was featured as number five on the ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 reel. The rookie continued to dominate on the offensive end as she helped the Bulldogs pick up their first win of the season on Sunday. Rauff tapped in the game-winning goal during a penalty corner to top Lehigh, 2-1, with under ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter.

Bryant hits the road this Friday as they open NEC play with the new Division I squad Merrimack. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start at New Balance Field at Boston University.
