BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Bryant University field hockey senior Marijn Jaarsma was one of 38 players selected to the 2021 NFHCA Division I Senior Team, the NFHCA announced on Monday.

Jaarsma is the only player from the Northeast Conference recognized. She is the first player in program history to earn a spot on the team.

The 2021 NEC Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year, Jaarsma found out the news during a live video presentation on Monday afternoon. Jaarsma put together one of the greatest seasons in program history this fall, posting a program-record 202 saves. She led the nation in saves per game and finished with a .780 save percentage and two shutouts. For her career, Jaarsma made 495 saves and posted a .770 career save percentage. She became the first All-Region selection in DI program history last spring and is the first player in 11 years to take home both defensive player and goalkeeper of the year honors in the same season.
