Field Hockey adds six to Class of 2026

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University field hockey head coach Jillian Coppola is excited to announce the first six members of Class of 2026. 

Joining the Bulldogs next fall will be Maria Bonwell, Lauren Rothwell, Zoe Bates, Bella Thoms, Natalie Griffin and Megan Hart.

Maria Bonwell - Defense | Montpelier, Va. | Collegiate School
Bonwell spent two years on the varsity team at Collegiate School ... Helped team post a 17-6 record in her two years ... LIS Champions in 2021 ... Also lettered in softball ... Honor Roll student.

Lauren Rothwell - Midfield | Somerset, Mass. | Somerset Berkley Regional
Rothwell played four years at Somerset Berkely ... Helped team go 58-1 from 2018-2020 ... Two-time MIAA DI State Champion ... Four-time SCC Champion ... Three-time SCC All-Star ... Three-time Fall River Herald All-Scholastic ... 2020 Boston Herald All-Scholastic ... Two-time team captain ... National Honor Society member. 

Zoe Bates - Midfield/Forward | Orleans, Mass. | Nauset Regional
Bates played four years of field hockey at Nauset Regional ... Led her division in scoring as a junior with 16 goals in 11 games ... Posted 7 goals and 12 assists as a senior ... Three-time Cape and Islands All-Star ... Also lettered in lacrosse ... Honor Roll student. 

Bella Thoms - Defense | Lake Forest, Ill. | Loyola Academy
Thoms played three years of varsity field hockey at Loyola Academy ... Started all 53 games during her career ... Finished with four goals, four assists and 334 defensive takeaways ... Two-time IHFHSA All-Conference ... Three-time NCHCA All-Academic ... All-State Nominee ... Two-time team defensive MVP ... Loyola Academic Scholar.

Natalie Griffin - Midfield | Walpole, Mass. | Walpole
Enjoyed a standout career at Walpole ... Two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic ... Two-time Bay State All-Star ... Boston Globe All-Star ... Team MVP in 2020 ... Game MVP 26 Games Field Hockey ... Finished career with 32 goals and 22 assists ... Also competed in basketball and lacrosse ... High Honor Roll.

Megan Hart - Goalkeeper | Madison, Conn. | Daniel Hand
Hart served as the starting goalie for three years at Daniel Hand ... Posted 22 career shutouts ... Two-time All-Southern Connecticut First Team ... Two-time All-State First Team ... State Senior Game MVP 2021 ... New Haven Register All-Area 2021 ... Posted nine shutouts and an .850 save percentage as a senior ... Collected five shutouts in a COVID-shortened 2020 season ... Eight shutouts and an .850 save percentage as a sophomore ... Led team to state title game ... Also earned all-conference honors in softball and ice hockey ... Honor Roll student.
