Bates, van Dommelen score in 4-2 loss to Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Zoe Bates and Valerie van Dommelen each scored their first-career goals but the Bryant University field hockey team fell to Brown, 4-2, on Friday afternoon.

KEY MOMENT

  • The Bears scored three goals in an 11-minute span in the second quarter to take a 3-0 lead to halftime.           

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lucy Adams broke the deadlock just over a minute into the second quarter. It started a string of three Brown goals in the next 11 minutes to make it 3-0. 

The Bears would push it 4-0 before Bryant got on the board. Bates scored her first-career goal on a rebound, while van Dommelen tipped home a shot from Lotte Guitink to make it 4-2.

  • Bates and van Dommelen each recorded their first-career goals in the loss.
  • Guitink recorded an assist and now has four points over the last two games. 
  • Brown held an 11-7 lead in penalty corners.
