Gouws named America East Offensive Player of the Week

BOSTON - Bryant University field hockey senior Brittany Gouws was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Gouws picks up her first-career weekly honor after registering five goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. She leads the Black and Gold with six goals and two assists for 14 points.

On Friday, Gouws potted a pair of goals and collected a pair of assists in a 5-2 win over Stonehill. She assisted on the first and third goals of the game before scoring the final two Bryant goals.

Gouws completed her impressive weekend with a hat trick in the Black and Gold's 3-2 overtime victory over Saint Louis on Sunday. She gave Bryant leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before ending the game just over five minutes into the first overtime. The hat trick was the first of her career.

Bryant opens America East play this Friday when it travels to Burlington, Vt., to take on Vermont. The Bulldogs will then host Cal on Sunday at Providence College.
