Bryant falls to UC Davis, 3-1, on Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University field hockey team fell to UC Davis on 3-1 on Friday afternoon.

KEY MOMENT

  • The Aggies made it a 2-0 game just 43 seconds into the third quarter and it proved to be the difference.               

HOW IT HAPPENED

An evenly matched game was broken up as the Aggies capitalized on a loose ball in the circle to score with just over two minutes to go in the first half. 

UC Davis then finished a beautiful play just 43 seconds into the third quarter to make it 2-0. 

Bryant cut the deficit to one on a penalty corner. Brittany Gouws sent the ball towards the cage and Sarah van Scoten redirected it home for her first-career goal. The Aggies, however, would add a third goal in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Gouws now leads the Bulldogs with 19 points (7g, 5a). 
  • van Scoten scored her first collegiate goal on the afternoon. 
  • Dieneke Hes posted six saves in the loss.
