Field Hockey announces 2023 slate

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University field hockey team and head coach Jillian Coppola announced the Fall 2023 schedule on Wednesday afternoon.

Bryant's 18-game schedule begins August 26 in St. Louis, Missouri. The Black and Gold will play 10 home games this fall. 

The Black and Gold will make their furthest trip west in DI program history to open the season, traveling to Missouri to face Saint Louis (Aug. 26) and Lindenwood (Aug. 27). Bryant picked up a 3-2 overtime victory over the Bilikens last fall. 

Bryant's first game on its brand new field will be Septemeber 1 when in-state foe Providence comes to Smithfield. The Black and Gold wrap up the weekend at Fairfield (Sept. 4). 

The Bulldogs will then host Merrimack (Sept. 8), travel to Quinnipiac (Sept. 10) and host Stonehill (Sept. 15) before heading to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to face national power Wake Forest on Sept. 17. It will be Bryant's furthest trip south in program history. 

Bryant will then open America East play on Sept. 24 when it welcomes UAlbany to Smithfield. The Bulldogs will head to Holy Cross (Sept. 26) and New Hampshire (Sept. 29) to close out the month. 

The month of October will see Bryant play six of its seven games at home. Bryant welcomes Cal on Oct. 6 before traveling to Maine (Oct. 8) to close out the weekend. The Black and Gold then close the with five consecutive home games. They'll host Vermont (Oct. 13), UMass Lowell (Oct. 20), Hofstra (Oct. 22), Stanford (Oct. 27) and UC Davis (Oct. 28). 

Bryant is coming off its best season in the last 11 years, finishing 5-14 overall. The Black and Gold scored 30 goals, the most since 2013, and will return all but one player that recorded a point last season. That includes Bryant's top four scorers in Brittany Gouws (8g, 6, 22p), Lotte Guitink (7g, 2a, 16p), Olivia Clarke (6g, 3a, 15p) and Taryn Rauff (3g, 3a, 9p).
