Bryant falls to No. 18 UMass Lowell in OT, 2-1

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Natalie Brown scored her third goal of the season and the Bryant University field hockey team took No. 18 UMass Lowell to overtime before the River Hawks were able to score the game-winning goal on Friday at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.

First Quarter

  • Bryant and UMass Lowell played a scoreless first.
  • The River Hawks were force to make a pair of saves.

Second Quarter

  • Bryant got on the board first thanks to a great transition game. 
  • Taryn Rauff sprung Ashley Barron on a break down field and she was able to corral the ball in the circle. She spun and found Brown who was able to knock it home.

Third Quarter

  • UMass Lowell tied the game as Eva Clarke hammered a shot home from the top of the circle.

Fourth Quarter

  • Bryant got a late penalty corner but was unable to convert. 

Overtime

  • Bryant started the overtime down a man thanks to late green card in regulation.
  • The River Hawks were able to take advantage in transition, with Madison Leeper knocking home a loose ball for the game winner.

Bryant Notes and Notables

  • UMass Lowell outshot Bryant, 25-6 and had a 14-1 advantage in penalty corners.
  • Brown scored her third goal of the season. All three goals have come at home.
  • Barron picked up her first assist of the year.
  • Dieneke Hes posted eight saves between the pipes.
