Bryant blanks Stanford, 2-0, for first-ever America East win

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Taryn Rauff and Olivia Clarke scored and the Bryant University field hockey team played stout defense to earn its first-ever America East victory with a 2-0 shutout of Stanford on Friday at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.

The win marks Bryant's first America East win in its second season in the conference. It is also the Bulldogs' second-straight shutout, the first time it has blanked back-to-back opponents since 2021.

  • Rauff helped the Bulldogs score twice in a six-minute span in the first half.    

First Quarter

  • Bryant grabbed the lead off a penalty corner.
  • A battle ensued following a save and Rauff was able to find the loose ball and knock it home.

Second Quarter

  • Bryant earned another penalty corner and was able to convert.
  • Brittany Gouws stopped the corner and Rauff fired a shot that Clarke tipped home.

  • The win is also Bryant's first-ever against Stanford.
  • Bryant has now shutout back-to-back opponents for the first time since 2021.
  • Rauff scored her fifth goal of the season and the 20th of her career.
  • Rauff is just the third player in DI program history to reach the 20-goal plateau.
  • She now has 16 points this season and 50 in her career. Rauff is just the third player to reach 50 career points.
  • Hes posted two saves to earn her second-straight shutout.
  • Clarke scored her fourth goal of the season and now has 10 points.
  • Gouws now has 16 points (6g, 4a).
