Men's Basketball Defeats Holy Family As Mike Williams Reaches 1,000

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Bryant University men’s basketball team won its second-straight Monday night, defeating Holy Family University, 95-70 at the Campus Center in Philadelphia.

Senior Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) notched his 1,000th point in the game scoring 21 points and recording six rebounds. John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) scored a game-high 29 points including 4-of-5 from three-point range, he also handed out five assists.

The game was tight in the early going as both teams traded baskets early, but thanks to 15 first half free throws (15 for 18), the Bulldogs headed to the locker room at the half with a 48-37 lead.

In the second half, the Bulldogs opened with a 28-4 run to take a commanding 37-point lead with 10:38 remaining and never looked back. A Nathanial Sudlow (Brooklyn, NY) dunk and Cullen McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) three-pointer helped key the spurt.

John Ezeokoli (South Orange, NJ) finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while Sudlow had 12 points and Mario Corriea (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points. Holy Family was led by Ryan Lancaster who scored 19 points. Sudlow, starting in his second game of the season, had a strong game with 3 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals in 29 minutes.

Bryant finished the game 32-of-58 shooting (55.2%) from the field including 8-of-17 from the three-point range (47.1%) and 23-of-26 (88.5%) from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs will return to action next Wednesday, December 29 hosting NJIT in the first round of the Comfort Suites Holiday Classic at the Chace Athletic Center at 5 p.m.
