Bryant Men Roll Past Owls 80-47; Bulldogs Win Fifth Straight

NEW HAVEN, CONN. -- John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) scored 20 points and dished out six assists to help lead the Bryant men's basketball team to an 80-47 win over Southern Connecticut in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball action Thursday night.

The win, Bryant's fifth-straight, improves the Bulldogs to 12-6 overall and 8-6 in the NE-10. Southern Connecticut, led by Michael Yacenda's 11 points, falls to 4-15 and 2-13 in league play.

Bryant led 36-14 at the half and never looked back as Williams made 4-of-8 three-point field goals and picked up five steals. Chris Burns (Merrimack, N.H.), a sophomore transfer from Providence College, continues to play well since returning from an injury. Burns (pictured) had 18 points off the bench including four 3-point field goals.

The Bulldogs made 11 of their 25 three-point attempts in the game and got 17 points and a nine rebound performance from Mario Correia (Brockton, Mass.). Bryant's bench outscored Southern Connecticut's reserves 26-17 in the game.

Bryant will return home to host Franklin Pierce on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center.
