KONDRATYEV NAMED TO NORTHEAST CONFERENCE ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

Caps off stellar freshman campaign with program's first-ever all-conference selection

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University freshman Vlad Kondratyev (Nikolayev, Ukraine) earned the first Northeast Conference honor in men's basketball program history, capping off a stellar rookie campaign with an NEC All-Rookie Team selection, as voted on by league coaches and announced by the conference Tuesday.

Kondratyev's 8.9 points per game paced the Bulldogs (1-29, 1-17 NEC), while the freshman forward finished the season with a .498 shooting percentage from the floor, good for seventh in the league and first among all conference rookies. He also finished the regular season ranked 13th in blocks, posting 22 rejections in his first year of collegiate action and averaging 0.76 per outing.

After starting the year averaging just 4.4 points per game, Kondratyev kept improving as the season progressed and finished the year with 11.2 points per contest in NEC play, the second-best mark among league freshman. Long and athletic, Kondratyev ranks sixth in the conference in league field goal percentage (.523) and ended the year as the Bulldogs' top scorer.

Kondratyev paced Bryant in points scored nine times during the 2009-10 campaign, the most of any Bulldog, and recorded 13 double-digit point performances, 12 of them coming in the last 18 games. The rookie posted a shooting percentage of .500 or better 16 times and scored a career-high 20 points against Sacred Heart on the road on Jan. 23.
