BRYANT MEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS SALVE REGINA 75-49 IN EXHIBITION WEDNESDAY NIGHT

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  --  Freshman guard Corey Maynard (Adelaide, Australia) came off the bench to score 15 points while Cecil Gresham (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Alex Francis (Harlem, N.Y.) each added 10 to lead Bryant University to a 75-49 exhibition win over Salve Regina Wednesday night.

Leading 35-24 at the half,  Bryant opened the second frame with an 18-4 run and never looked back.  Two long three-pointers from Gresham plus a long-range trey from Maynard helped sparked the run for the Bulldogs who were coming off a thrilling last-second victory over Iona Sunday night in Cleveland and playing before the home fans at the Chace Athletic Center for the first time this season.

After a nice inside move by Salve Regina's Jeff Bielefeld (6 points), Maynard drilled another long range jumper and teammate Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J.) added a jumper of his own and the Bulldogs were out front 53-28 with just over 12 minutes left.

Maynard was 3-for-4 from three-point range as Bryant made seven treys on the night.  The Bulldogs shot 46.8 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Seahawks 43 to 33. Salve Regina was led by Windell Hinkson's 11 points while Dan Royce added 10.

Bryant will host Army this Saturday in the official home opener for the 2010-11 season starting at 3:30 p.m.  All veterans with I.D. and their families will be admitted free of charge to the game.
