Zouzoua named USBWA All-District, All-ECAC Second Team after record-setting season

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After leading the Northeast Conference in scoring, Bryant University sophomore guard Nisre Zouzoua (Brockton, Mass.) has been named to the USBWA All-District I Team, as announced Tuesday. He was also named an All-ECAC Second Team pick on March 23.

Just a sophomore, Zouzoua has amassed an impressive collection of accolades on his young career, adding Tuesday's all-district selection to an All-NEC First Team selection this season. The league's top scorer nearly start to finish, he led the Bulldogs back to the NEC Tournament in 2016-17, averaging 20.3 points per game to rank 33rd in the nation.

The fastest scorer to reach 1,000 points in Bryant's Division I history (61 games), Zouzoua posted 20 or more points an impressive 17 times this season, more than any other NEC player, and has failed to score double-digit points in just a single outing. He also leads the league in triples per game, hitting a shade under three each time out to rank 32nd in the NCAA, and ranks in the league's top-10 in minutes per game and steals per contest.

This season, the sophomore assassin set a new Division I program mark for single-season points (628) and reset the mark for single-season scoring average (20.3). One of the most prolific scorers to don the Black and Gold, Zouzoua already ranks sixth and fourth in the DI era for career field goals (339) and trifectas (152).

Zouzoua is the third Bulldog to earn USBWA All-District honors, after Alex Francis ('14) and Dyami Starks ('15) each did so as seniors. He is the only player out of the NEC to be named an all-district pick.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District Teams are based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season.
