Bryant defeated on the road by Yale, 84-67

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Bosko Kostur (Melbourne, Australia), sophomore Adam Grant (Franklin, Va.) and sophomore Ikenna Ndubga (Boston, Mass.) all had 20-point nights, but the Bryant University men's basketball team fell to Yale, 84-67, Wednesday at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

The 20-point outputs from the Bulldog trio marked the first time in Bryant's 10-year Division I history that the Bulldogs had three scorers with 20 or more points each.

COACH O'SHEA'S COMMENTS
"We had a good stretch where we got it to a two-point game; we just never got over the hump against a good Yale team. I thought Ike played very well tonight. I thought Adam had good moments. We just have to figure out how to get it done for 40 minutes."

KEY MOMENTS

  • Yale jumped out to a 15-5 lead, and after Bryant cut the deficit to 18-10, Yale responded with an 8-0 run for a 26-10 advantage midway through the first half.
  • Bryant brought the margin to as close as three before the half, as Yale took a 41-35 advantage into the locker room.
  • Bryant pulled to within 55-53 with 11:26 to go before a 13-0 Yale run pushed the margin back to double digits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Yale led 15-5 at the first media timeout with a 3-for-3 start from beyond the arc. Ndugba and Kostur combined for the first five Bryant points.
  • After Bryant brought the deficit to within 18-10, Yale rattled off an 8-0 run to take a 26-10 lead midway through the first half.
  • Bryant trailed 34-19 before a 9-0 run to cut it to 34-28 and force a Yale timeout with 2:51 to go in the half.
  • Yale held a 41-35 advantage at the half and led by as many as 17 in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Yale jumped ahead 52-43 before a 10-3 Bryant run brought the Black and Gold as close as two.
  • Bryant pulled to within 55-53 with 11:26 to go before a 13-0 Yale run put the Bulldogs from New Haven up double digits. Yale would lead by at least 13 the rest of the way.

STATS

  • Kostur led all scorers with 24 points. The senior was 9-for-11 from the floor and 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
  • Ndugba had his second-career game of 20 or more points with an even 20 while recording seven rebounds and seven assists.
  • Grant had an even 20 points and was 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
  • Senior Hunter Ware (Powder Springs, Ga.) grabbed a season-high five rebounds.
  • Bryant shot 39.4 percent from the floor, while Yale shot 55.4 percent.

GAME NOTES

  • Bryant falls to 3-7 against Yale in the Division I era.
  • Kostur (24) and Ndugba (20) both scored two points shy of their career-highs.
  • Kostur had 20 or more points for the fifth time in his career and 10 or more for the 35th time.
  • Ndugba was in double figures in scoring for the 13th time in his career.
  • Grant had his seventh game of 20 or more points in his career and 27th of 10 or more.
