Bryant downed by Robert Morris, 83-60

PITTSBURGH – Senior Bosko Kostur (Melbourne, Australia) had a team-high 16 points and senior Hunter Ware (Powder Springs, Ga.) added a season-high 12, but the Bryant University men's basketball team dropped an 83-60 decision to Robert Morris Thursday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

  • Bryant led 20-12 with seven early points from Kostur.
  • Robert Morris used a 20-4 run to push the lead to as many as 15 shy of halftime.
  • The Bulldogs pulled back within 10 via a 7-0 run, but the Colonials pulled away with a 28-11 spurt before closing out the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bryant opened up a 15-10 lead on a four-point play from Kostur with 13:55 to play in the first half.
  • The Bulldogs led 20-12 before Robert Morris tied the game at 23 with 8:39 to go in the half.
  • The Colonials went on a 20-4 run and led by as many as 15 to take a 46-32 advantage into the locker room.
  • Robert Morris moved ahead 55-38 before a 7-0 Bryant run capped off by a three-point play by redshirt-freshman Brandon Carroll (Brewster, N.Y.) brought the Bulldogs back within 10 at 55-45 with 13:30 to go.
  • The Colonials would respond and push the lead to as many as 27 before a Ndugba free throw and Kostur three brought the game to its final 83-60 margin.

STATS

  • Kostur scored 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
  • Ware added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
  • Sophomore Ikenna Ndugba (Boston, Mass.) chipped in 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
  • Bryant shot 37.1 percent from the field, while Robert Morris shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 52.4 percent from beyond the arc.
  • The Colonials held a 44-34 advantage on the boards.

GAME NOTES

  • Bryant falls to 4-14 all-time against Robert Morris.
  • Ndugba passed Joe O'Shea (2012-15) for seventh in Bryant's Division I history in steals with 85.
  • Thursday's game was played at Duquesne University's A.J. Palumbo Center, as Robert Morris is in the process of building a new arena.
