Bryant defeated by Saint Francis U Saturday in Loretto

LORETTO, Pa. – The Bryant University men's basketball team was defeated on the road at Saint Francis U, 89-56, Saturday in the back end of the Bulldogs' western Pennsylvania trip.

Sophomore Adam Grant (Franklin, Va.) scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs, while redshirt-freshman Brandon Carroll (Brewster, N.Y.) was in double figures in rebounding for the third time in five games.

KEY MOMENT

  • Saint Francis used a 17-2 run to turn a two-point deficit into a 13-point advantage with 3:30 to go in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Grant scored eight of Bryant's first 11 points to give the Bulldogs an 11-6 advantage with 13:03 to go in the first half.
  • The teams traded the lead four times before a 17-2 Saint Francis run gave the Red Flash a 28-15 lead with 3:30 to go in the half.
  • Saint Francis led 37-21 at the half while holding the Bulldogs to 22.6 percent from the floor.
  • After a fast start to the second half for Saint Francis, Bryant used a 10-2 run to cut it to 61-43 with 10:49 remaining in the contest.
  • The Red Flash shot an even 50 percent in the second half en route to the 33-point margin.

STATS

  • Grant scored 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting while adding four rebounds and three assists.
  • Sophomore Sabastian Townes (Chesapeake, Va.) added 10 points and five rebounds.
  • Carroll grabbed 10 rebounds while adding six points.
  • Bryant shot 32.8 percent for the game, while Saint Francis U recorded a 47.1 shooting percentage.
  • The Red Flash outrebounded the Bulldogs, 41-40.

GAME NOTES

  • Bryant falls to 8-10 all-time against Saint Francis U.
  • The Bulldogs' four sophomores – Grant, Townes, Tanner Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) and Ikenna Ndugba (Boston, Mass.) combined for 41 of Bryant's 56 points and have scored 58.6 percent of the Bulldogs' points this season.
  • The 40 rebounds were the second-highest total this season.
  • Grant had 10 or more points for the 20th time this season, while Townes had 10 or more for the 13th time this year.
