Kasperzyk earns second straight NEC Co-Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's basketball freshman Joe Kasperzyk (New Haven, Conn.) has earned Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Kasperzyk scored 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting in Bryant's 72-67 loss to No. 24 Iowa Saturday night in Iowa City. The freshman guard scored five of those points during an 8-0 Bryant run that tied the game at 64 on his basket with 4:53 remaining. Kasperzyk would answer again to knot the game at 66 with 3:08 to play against the nationally ranked Hawkeyes.

The New Haven native is averaging 9.0 points and 2.5 assists per game in his first collegiate season with six games of 10 or more points. Kasperzyk averaged 16.0 points per game on 52.2 percent shooting in his final two non-conference games. He is the second player in Bryant's Division I era to win back-to-back NEC Rookie of the Week honors, joining Marcel Pettway in 2015-16.

Junior Adam Grant (Franklin, Va.) earned NEC Prime Performer honors with a team-high 23 points in the clash with the Hawkeyes.
