Grasso adds three in spring signing period

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's basketball coach Jared Grasso has announced the addition of three student-athletes to the Bulldog program during the spring signing period.

Incoming freshmen Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Nathaniel Stokes (Tacoma, Wash.), along with graduate transfer Andrew Robinson (Takoma Park, Md.), will arrive in Smithfield this summer.

Joins Bryant after a postgraduate year at Putnam Science Academy, where the Mustangs advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament … Named Defensive Player of the Year in his prep season … Joined Putnam Science after leading Liverpool (N.Y.) HS to a state championship in 2017-18 along with league and sectional titles in 2016-17 … Three-time All-League and earned Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball honors in 2017-18.

Grasso on Pride: "Charles is a ferocious competitor who has a non-stop motor. His toughness and competitiveness will make an immediate impact on our program."

Graduate transfer joins the Bulldogs after redshirting last season at Quinnipiac … Averaged 5.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as a junior in 2017-18 in 22 games … Knocked down 27 three-pointers as a sophomore in 2016-17 … CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2017-18 … Averaged 17 points per game in both his junior and senior seasons at Springbrook High School.

Grasso on Robinson: "Andrew will bring a great deal of maturity and leadership as a graduate transfer. He can really stretch the floor with his deep shooting range and can play multiple positions for us."

Nathaniel Stokes | F | 6-8 | 205 | Tacoma, Wash./Putnam Science (Conn.)
Joins the Bulldogs after a postgraduate year at Putnam Science Academy, where the Mustangs advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament … Reached the state quarterfinals as a junior and senior at Woodrow Wilson (Wash.) HS … Named state tournament quarterfinals MVP his senior season … Played in the district championship as a sophomore.

Grasso on Stokes: "Nate is a versatile forward who can shoot it from mid-range and out to the 3-point line. He's a versatile player and can help us at multiple positions."

Bryant opens its 2019-20 season in November. The full non-conference schedule will be announced later this spring.
