Cardenas named to NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Bryant University men's basketball junior Juan Cardenas (Medellin, Colombia) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court for his performance in the classroom in 2018-19, as announced Wednesday by the NABC.

Cardenas earned a 3.28 GPA in his junior season as a finance major at Bryant as the Bulldogs recorded their two highest semester team GPAs in the program's Division I era.

The 6-7 forward was also a key to Bryant's success on the court in his first season in Black & Gold, starting in 18 of his 29 appearances. In his final 10 games of the year, Cardenas averaged 11.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game on 55.4 percent shooting. Cardenas' 46 blocks on the season ranked third in the NEC and third in a single season in D1 program history.

Cardenas will suit up for Bryant in 2019-20 as part of a veteran group that includes seniors and 2018-19 All-NEC selections Adam Grant (Franklin, Va.) and SaBastian Townes (Chesapeake, Va.), senior Tanner Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) and the return of redshirt-junior guard Ikenna Ndugba (Boston, Mass.).

Bryant begins its 2019-20 season, the second under head coach Jared Grasso, Tuesday, Nov. 5 when Brown visits the Chace Athletic Center. Full schedule information will be available in the coming weeks.
