Grasso adds Mikail Simmons to Bryant roster

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's basketball coach Jared Grasso has announced the signing of Mikail Simmons (Plano, Texas) to complete the Bulldog roster for the 2019-20 season.

"Mikail is a cerebral forward who will give us added versatility and athleticism," said Grasso. "He can defend multiple positions and we're excited about his skill set and basketball IQ."

Simmons joins the Black & Gold after a season at Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana, where he appeared in 31 games and started 29 for a Cavaliers squad that opened its season 13-0. The 6-9 forward averaged 8.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for Bossier Parish. Simmons will be eligible immediately with two years to play.

The Texan played his freshman season at Loyola Marymount, where he averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 7.6 minutes per contest as a freshman. His career-highs of eight and seven points came against San Diego and Washington.

Simmons rounds out a seven-member recruiting class for Grasso entering the Bryant coach's second year in Smithfield, joining Ayo Dada (Cypress Falls, Texas), Hall Elisias (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Michael Green III (Bronx, N.Y.), Benson Lin (New Taipei City, Taiwan), Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Nathaniel Stokes (Tacoma, Wash.). Bryant also regains the services of Ikenna Ndugba (Boston, Mass.), who redshirted his junior season due to injury.

Bryant begins its 2019-20 season Tuesday, Nov. 5 when Brown visits the Chace Athletic Center. To sign up for season ticket information as it becomes available, click HERE.
