Pride named NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's basketball freshman Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov. 10.

Pride averaged 11.3 points per game on 52.2 percent shooting and 58.3 percent beyond the arc in a three-game week that included a win over Cornell and two-point defeats against Brown and Rutgers.

Pride's 22 points at Rutgers were the most ever by a Bryant freshman against an opponent from a major conference. The guard from Syracuse knocked down five threes and grabbed seven rebounds against the Scarlet Knights as the Bulldogs battled the Big Ten foe to the final possession in Piscataway.

Thursday's performance was followed by a 12-point effort in Sunday's 82-81 win over Cornell - an outing that included a key offensive rebound and layup with 90 seconds remaining that gave Bryant a four-point cushion before the Bulldogs survived a frantic ending in Smithfield.

Bryant returns to action Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to Jersey City for a contest at Saint Peter's. The 7 p.m. clash can be seen on ESPN+.
