Bryant opens America East play on New Years Eve

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team opens America East play when it hosts Binghamton at the Chace Athletic Center on New Years Eve. Saturday's tip is set for 1:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
Bryant and Binghamton will be meeting for the first time as conference foes and for the fifth time overall. The Bulldogs and Bearcats last met on December 28, 2013, a 67-62 victory for Binghamton.   

WELCOME TO THE AMERICA EAST
Saturday will mark Bryant's first conference game as a member of the America East. The Bulldogs were picked to finish second in the preseason poll. Bryant is coming off back-to-back successful campaigns in the Northeast Conference, reaching the NEC Championship in each season.

GROSS-BULLOCK PACES AMERICA EAST IN SCORING
Sherif Gross-Bullock enters league play as the top scorer in the America East with 16.1 points per game. Gross-Bullock has scored in double figures in 12 of the 13 games he's played this season and has posted 15+ points in each of his last four.    

FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Bryant is 9-4 overall following an 69-59 victory over Towson last Thursday at home. The Bulldogs' nine non-conference wins set a new water mark at the DI level.   
  2. Led by Gross-Bullock, the Black and Gold feature four the top 10 scorers in the America East entering Saturday. Ear Timberlake (4th), Charles Pride (7th) and Antwan Walker (10th) are all averaging over 13.5 ppg.
  3. Timberlake has produced 11 double-figure scoring games this season and is also third in the league in rebounds with 7.8. 
  4. Charles Pride enters league play with 1,299 career points. He is averaging 15.0 ppg and 6.5 rpg this season. 
  5. Bryant is 5-1 at home this season and 45-14 at home under coach Grasso.
