Bryant visits NJIT on Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team visits NJIT on Wednesday night. Tip is set for 7:02 p.m.

Bryant enters the final week of the regular season tied for fourth in the league standings. The top four teams will host quarterfinal games in the Jersey Mikes #AEPlayoffs that begin on March 4.

THE SERIES
Bryant and NJIT are meeting for the second time this season and for the fourth time in DI program history. The Bulldogs earned an 87-75 victory over the Highlanders on January 19 in Smithfield. A 12-0 run late in the first half sparked the Bulldogs, while Sherif Gross-Bullock paced the offense with 26 points.

WELCOME TO THE AMERICA EAST
Bryant is 7-6 in America East play this season. The Bulldogs are 5-2 at home and 2-4 on the road in league play. Bryant has three games remaining in the league slate and is currently tied New Hampshire for fourth. Vermont sits in first at 11-2, while UML is in second at 9-5 and Binghamton is in third at 8-5. The top four teams host quarterfinal-round games on March 4. 

SGB ON A HEATER
Sherif Gross-Bullock put together the best scoring performance by any player in the America East this season on Feb. 11 at UMBC, posting a career-high 39 points. He was 13-of-22 from the field and 7-of-11 from three on his way to posting the third-highest scoring output in DI program history. SGB has scored 20+ points in each of his last three games and is averaging 28.3 ppg in that span. 

FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Bryant is 16-10 overall and 7-6 in league play following an 85-71 loss to UMass Lowell last Wednesday.    
  2. Earl Timberlake ranks 11th in the America East in scoring and third in rebounding entering Wednesday. Timberlake is tied for the team lead with eight double-doubles.
  3. Charles Pride currently ranks fifth in the league in scoring with 15.0 ppg. He's also approaching a career milestone, needing just six points to become the 11th player in program history to score 1,500 career points.    
  4. Antwan Walker currently ranks 10th in the league in scoring and fifth in the league in rebounding. The URI transfer is averaging career-highs in both ppg and rpg. He is tied for the team lead with eight double-doubles. 
  5. Timberlake's 8.5 rebounds per game currently rank fourth in a season in DI program history. The single-season record is 8.8.
