Bryant, Vermont meet Saturday night in Burlington

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team heads to Burlington, Vermont, this weekend to face league-leading Vermont on Saturday night. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m.

Bryant enters the game trailing Vermont by two games in the league standings.

THE SERIES
Bryant and Vermont are meeting for the second time this season and the sixth time overall. The Catamounts own a 4-1 lead in the series, having won each of the last four. In January, Vermont held Bryant to just 57 points in a 67-57 victory. Bryant will be looking for its first victory in Burlington.            

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Bryant enters Saturday ranked third nationally with 6.3 blocks per game and 11th nationally in field goal percentage defense (39.6 percent). Individually, Daniel Rivera ranks 17th nationally in blocks per game, Earl Timberlake is 8th nationally in field goal percentage and Sherif Gross-Bullock is 22nd in three-point field goals per game.

GOOD GRIEF, REEF
Sherif Gross-Bullock posted his 12th 20-point game of the season last Saturday against UMass Lowell, second-most in the America East. SGB also has a pair of 30+ point games, going for 41 and 35 against UMBC. He now has four games of 35+ points in his career, one shy of Peter Kiss' record of five. Gross-Bullock ranks second in the league in scoring with 19.1 ppg.

Earl Timberlake has recorded at least 20 points in each of his last five games, averaging 21.0 ppg in the span. He joins Sherif Gross-Bullock, Peter Kiss, Nisre Zouzoua and Alex Francis as the only players in DI program history to have as many as five-straight 20-point games.

FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. SGB enters Saturday averaging 20.9 ppg in America East play. He has scored 20+ points in seven of the 12 league games this season, but was held to just 12 in Bryant's first meeting with Vermont.  
  2. Timberlake is coming off his fifth-straight 20-point performance, posting 22 points and 6 rebounds vs UMass Lowell. He is averaging 19.1 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 3.3 apg over his last six. On the year, Timberlake is averaging 15.1 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 3.9 apg.    
  3. Daniel Rivera is averaging 13.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 2.5 bpg in league play. Rivera has four double-doubles in league play this season.     
  4. Tyler Brelsford enjoyed a breakout performance at Binghamton, posting 14 points on 3-of-4 from three. He followed that up with 11 pts (3-6 3pFG) on Thursday vs Maine. Over his last three, Brelsford is 7-of-12 from beyond the arc.  
  5. Connor Withers had another all-around effort vs UMass Lowell last week, posting five points, eight rebounds, three assists and four blocks.
