Bio

Eamonn Mahar joined the Bryant men's basketball staff in June 2018 as director of basketball operations and was promoted to assistant coach in August of 2020. He begins his sixth season with the program in 2023-24.

Mahar has helped turn the program around as the Bulldogs have posted four-straight 15-win seasons, including a DI program record 22 wins in 21-22. Bryant won its first-ever NEC Regular Season and Tournament titles in 21-22, qualifying for the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships for the first time. Bryant has won 79 games during Mahar's time on staff and has featured five All-NEC selections and three All-America East honorees.

The Bulldogs made the transition to the America East in 2022-23 and Mahar was part of a staff that guided the Bulldogs to 17 wins. Bryant picked up a win against Syracuse in the JMA Wireless Dome and qualified for the America East Tournament.

Bryant's 21-22 season was historic and featured sone outstanding individual performances. Peter Kiss finished the season as the nation's leading scorer with 25.2 ppg, while Charles Pride joined Kiss on the All-NEC first team with 17.7 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

The 2020-21 season was a historic one for Bryant as the Bulldogs went 15-7 and advanced to the Northeast Conference Championship for the first time in program history. Bryant finished in the top five nationally in both tempo and scoring in 20-21, becoming one of the nation's best offensive teams.

Mahar joined the Bryant staff after a year as a graduate manager at Iona, where he oversaw travel, video and other logistical elements for the Gaels' MAAC championship team in 2017-18. Prior to Iona, Mahar worked as a runner for four years with the Hoop Group, managing social media, logistics, budgets, and overseeing a staff of 45 interns.

Mahar graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2017, finishing his undergraduate degree in three years, while serving as a manager for the Red Dragons. He is the son of former Columbia, Newbury, and Johnson State head coach Buddy Mahar, who spent 35 seasons in collegiate and high school coaching. He is the brother of former Chaminade and Assumption head coach Matt Mahar, who is now the director of athletics at Narragansett High School.
