MEN'S GOLF IMPRESSIVE WITH SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT CONNECTICUT CUP

BRYANT MEN’S GOLF PLACES SECOND AT CONNECTICUT CUP HOSTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT
ELLINGTON, Conn. – The Bryant University men’s golf
team turned in yet another stellar performance this week, roaring
back from fifth-place after the opening round to finish second at
the inaugural Connecticut Cup hosted by the University of
Connecticut.
Jason Thresher (West Suffield, CT) paced the way
with a third-place finish overall individually with a three-round
score of 218. Thresher opened with a 76 and 74 and carded a 68
Tuesday in the final round to lead the charge.
Scott Congdon (Foxboro, MA) was next with a score of 225
to finish tied for 15th. Alex Daley (Hudson, MA),
behind back-to-back scores of 73 on Monday and Tuesday, was just a
stroke back of Congdon, finishing tied for 19th with a 226.
Mike Pyne (Foxboro, MA) was tied for 26th after
shooting a 76 Tuesday while local product Kyle Hofman
(Pawtucket, RI / Bishop Feehan) rounded out the scoring at
233.
Arkansas-Little Rock won the tournament with a combined score of
868. Bryant matched UALR with a final round of 293. The Bulldogs
edged Harford which was third followed by Sacred Heart, UConn, and
AIC.
“The guys really played very well,” said Bryant coach
Archie Boulet. “Arkansas Little Rock is a
fine team and just had too big a lead to catch, but I was very
pleased with the play of the entire team this week.”
The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum into next week’s
New England Championships at the Captain’s Course on Cape
Cod. The Bulldogs won last year’s team title for all
Divisions.
