Bryant coach Archie Boulet was honored by the NEIGA with a Special Recognition Award at the 2009 New England Championships.

BREWSTER, Mass. – Standing in tenth-place overall after the first round of the 2009 New England Championships, the Bryant University men’s golf team turned in the second-best team score Tuesday to finish fifth overall at The Captain’s Course on Cape Cod.

Bryant coach Archie Boulet was honored by the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) with a special recognition award by the coaches and organization at the pre-tournament banquet on Sunday.

The Bulldogs, last year’s champions for all divisions, shot a team score of 293 after, second to only UConn’s 284. The Huskies claimed the overall title with a two-day score of 582.

Bryant was led once again by standout senior Jason Thresher (West Suffield, CT) who earned medalist honors with a first-place finish score of 141. Thresher shot a 73 Monday and followed up with a brilliant 68 Tuesday.

Alex Daley (Hudson, MA) was next for the Bulldogs, finishing tied for 22nd with a 151 after shooting a 75 Tuesday while Scott Congdon (Foxboro, MA) was tied for 36th after carding a 75.

Eric Tankanow (Worcester, MA) (T64th) also brought home a 75 while Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, RI) rounded out the scoring with an 84.

The New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) has been in existence since
1934 and includes 45 member colleges and universities in New England making this the
oldest and largest college golf tournament in the country. It is unique in that Divisions I,
II and III compete together.
