THRESHER TIED FOR FIFTH AFTER DAY 1 OF NEC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

FIRST ROUND RESULTSLIVE SCORING

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. – Bryant University senior golf standout Jason Thresher carded a 2-over round of 74 to place tied for fifth after day one of the 2010 Northeast Conference Golf Championships.  Thresher, this week’s NEC Golf Player of the Week for the fifth time this year, is just four shots back of leader Joey Amelia of Saint Francis (PA) who carded a 2-under par round of 70.

Spencer Sweitzer sits tied for 10th with a 75 while Kyle Hoffman is currently tied for 17th overall individually with an opening round 77.

Bryant is competing as individuals only at the championships and will not be included in the team scoring as the Bulldogs are still reclassifying and not eligible for NCAA championship play.   Unofficially, Bryant’s team score of 309 would place them seventh after Day 1.

The second round of the championships continues Saturday with the final round slated for Sunday.
